With 2019 firmly behind us, we’ve taken the plunge into a new decade bursting with a whole host of exciting events!

Let’s start by shedding the spotlight on just some of the fantastic events we have taking place at The Roundhouse and across our other spectacular venues.

January

Kicking off in January, we have a variety of events taking place. IMechE will be joining us for a technical lecture on Applying Common Safety Methods to Railway Projects. Mike Castles, Global Technical Expert (GTE) Functional Safety has over 25 years of experience in the rail industry will be guest speaking.

Other events include Refresco Celebration Evening, East Midlands Japanese New Year, Networking Event and Ford and Stanley 10 Year Celebration Lunch plus more.

February

This February, Derby Winter Ale Festival returns! If you were one of the 10,000+ visitors we welcomed last year or you have never been to Derby Winter Ale Festival before, start planning your session!

The walls will be lined with over 400 cask ales, key keg beers, ciders and perries, world beers and mead. From Ashbourne to Australia, the local, national and international line-up will leave you spoilt for choice. Blue Monkey will also be returning with their popular gin and rum bar and there will be hot and cold food on offer.

The Derby Winter Ale Festival is known not only for the incredible beer on offer, but also the great range of live entertainment.

We’re also delighted to welcome back The Let’s Get Mental! Conference 2020 will again be returning to The Roundhouse, Saturday 29th February. This year’s theme will be Education and Mental Health.

The Let's get Mental! Conference aims to put our mental health on the map. It is an event that celebrates participation within mental health services and the role of young people in raising awareness of mental health and well-being; showcasing stories of young people having a voice in shaping Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and allied services which support young people.

March

The Spring Market taking place Sunday 29th March, will have over 100 hand selected stallholders offering artisan food, drink, decorative vintage, flowers, interiors, designers, makers & much more. Relax with a slice of homemade cake and a cup of tea in our pop-up tea room, where you can rest your tired shopping feet. outside on the plaza you’ll find a delicious selection of hot food and drink stalls with offerings including wood fired pizzas, crepes, hot wraps, halloumi fries and handcrafted coffees.

Treat yourself and someone special to a VIP Ticket giving you an even more fabulous experience.  Tickets are limited.

The Spring Market will have a great selection of workshops running throughout the day, but booking in advance is essential!

Workshops include: Paint Your Own Banner with Darwin and Gray, Cake Decorating Masterclass with The Boutique Baking Company and Spring Floral Styling with Birds in the Attic.

April

April is packed with a weekend of Ultra events including Ultra MMA, Ultra White Collar Boxing and Ultra Ballroom, all of which see participants raise money for Cancer Research UK.

An experience like no other, contestants will take to the ring to get fit, do something amazing and help raise money for Cancer Research UK. Ultra White Collar Boxing training is aimed at male and female beginners; you will receive 8 weeks of free training at a local boxing gym with professional boxing coaches.

This will get participants extremely fit and teach techniques ahead of the fight. These training regimes will ensure that participants are in the fittest condition!

At the end of the 8 weeks training participants will be fairly matched based on weight, fitness, ability & age with an opponent from the group you have trained with to ensure a fair competitive bout.

May

Mickleover Model Railway Group is proud to announce it will be holding its 40th annual Derby model railway exhibition on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May. Bringing together a wide selection of high quality layouts and exhibits from across the country, they will cover British, European and American outline in a variety of scales.

June

The start of June will begin with the Gin and Rum Festival. Prepare for to discover a unique experience that celebrates the best Gin and Rum right now and promises the party of the year.

The Family Showcase – A perfect event for the whole family to enjoy!

For The Family Showcase there will be a wide range of guest speakers including parenting experts and services in the area. There will also be demonstrations including the very popular live Children’s First Aid session and we also offer various workshops for parents and children to get interactive and creative with some of our makers.

As always, The Family Showcase will have an impressive range of large and small business exhibitors for some serious shopping, this event caters to expectant, new and existing parents so you can find anything from early baby essentials to clothing up to age 10.

With fun for all the family to get involved in, food vendors and the opportunity to meet up with Instagram friends, this is the perfect day out!

July

Established in 1908, The Derby Shakespeare Theatre Company Co. are proud to be one of the oldest amateur theatre companies in the UK, striving to present the work of William Shakespeare and other wonderful theatre to the Derby audience.

The cast will be returning to Broomfield Hall to perform The Merry Wives of Windsor (1600).

August

During August, we will play host several weddings. The Roundhouse can seat up to 680 guests with spacious modern grounds and award-winning accessibility.

The region's first independent interiors festival! If you missed 2019 fear not – the team are currently working on plans for 2020.

The team pulled out all the stops in 2019 to bring visitors some of the most influential, inspirational and dedicated interiors enthusiasts from all over the UK including Sandra Baker, Julia Alexander, Justin Coakely, Paula Sutton, Poonam Sharma, Hilary Marconetto, Medina Grillo, Janet McMeekin, Sam Hansard, Juan Sandiego, Tamara Broido, and Ruth Adams.
